Learn the basic skills necessary to pass the Class A CDL test

DCTC offers a Class A CDL training course designed for non-professional truck drivers, who need a Class A CDL as part of their overall job skill set. This course will teach the basic skills necessary to pass the Class A CDL test. It is strongly recommended that participants are mechanically inclined and have experience using a manual transmission.

This training includes:
  • 40 hours of training and testing
  • 4-hour class sessions
  • Manual transmission Class A Truck
  • Scheduled license exam and driving test with a DCTC vehicle and professional instructor
  • Participant to instructor ratio of 4 – 5 to 1
  • $1,150.00, includes up to two tests at the License Exam Station (no financial aid available)
  • Additional fees to obtain license (payable at the License Exam Station on the day of testing)
  • $150, if a third test is necessary (a maximum of 3 tests may be taken)
  • Class A CDL permit and air brake endorsement
  • DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screen
