Looking for Nursing Assistant Exam Actors at Dakota County Technical College!
We are looking for actors (no acting experience necessary) to assist with individuals who are testing for the Skills portion of Certified Nursing Assistant Exams.
Who can be an actor?
- Actors need to understand that they are not able to sit for the State NA competency rest for six (6) months from the date that they last worked as an actor
- Actors must be of legal working age in the State they are working.
- Actors must fill out and sign a Confidentiality and Actor Training Affidavit form
- An Actor may NOT be a NA test Candidate who has not tested
- An Actor may NOT be a student in any NA Training program
- Actors can be registry active NA’s testing team family members, volunteers, etc
Compensation for being an actor?
We will compensate up to $16.00 per hour. There are no benefits available to Nursing Assistant actors.
How often do you have Nursing Assistant Exams?
- Exams during the summer are typically once or twice a week on Wednesdays from either 9:00am - 3:00pm or from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm and on Fridays from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Exams during the school semester may be on a Saturday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm or a Wednesday evening from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Actors do not and will not be asked to cover every available Nursing Assistant Skills exam we have available. We are looking for a pool of dedicated people who are interested in the Nursing field or earning some extra cash.
Skill tasks that Require an Actor:
- Ambulation from Bed to Wheelchair or Wheelchair to Bed using a Gait Belt, Walker or Cane – Actor will be assisted to take at least ten steps from the bed to the wheelchair or from the wheelchair to the bed.
- Applying an Anti-embolic Stocking to One Leg – Actor will have an anti-embolic knee-high stocking applied to one leg.
- Bedpan and Output – Actor will remain fully clothed. Actor will be placed on a bedpan (standard or fracture) by the candidate. Once the bedpan is removed by the candidate, the RN Test Observer will pour a premeasured amount of fluid into the bedpan while the candidate is holding it.
- Dressing a Dependent Resident – Actor will remain fully clothed, with large oversized clothing used to demonstrate dressing technique.
- Foot Care – Actor will have one foot washed, dried and lotion rubbed onto foot.
- Pivot-transfer from Bed to Wheelchair or Wheelchair to Bed using a Gait Belt – Actor will be a weight bearing, non-ambulatory resident but stable when standing and will be assisted to the wheelchair from bed, or from the bed to wheelchair

Nursing Assistant - Minimum qualifications:
- Minnesota RN with a minimum of two years of licensed nursing experience in the US as evidenced by screenshot from Minnesota Board of Nursing website.
- At least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services in the US as evidenced by licensed nursing experience resume. Examples of long-term care facility services are employment in a nursing home or assisted living facility. Home health experience providing care in private homes only is not included.
- Total licensed nursing experience can include LPN experience, but applicants must currently be employed as an RN.
Medication Aide - Minimum qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Nurse with the Board of Nursing
- Long term care experience is preferred
